Lorne Switzman

Ph.D., C.Psych.

I hold memberships in the Canadian Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, Canadian Register of Health Services Providers in Psychology, Canadian Academy of Psychologists in Disability Assessments, the International Association for the Study of Pain and the Society for Personality Assessment.  I am currently a private practitioner, providing treatment and assessments.  I have more than 40 years of clinical, academic and research experience in clinical, health and rehabilitation psychology.  I graduated from Concordia University and was a post-doctoral fellow at McGill University. I conducted research in the field of clinical psychology, neuropharmacology and psychopharmacology. My clinical experience encompasses psychiatric, medical and community populations. I initiated and developed health and rehabilitation psychology programs in hospital settings. My experience in the chronic pain field dates back to the late 1970s at the McGill-Royal Victoria Pain Clinic. I have held various hospital and academic positions in Montreal, Halifax and Toronto, including Chief Psychologist at The Wellesley and St. Michael’s Hospitals, where I was also Chair of the Professional Advisory Council and held a seat on the Medical Advisory Council.  Academic affiliations have included the University of Toronto, York University, St. Mary’s University and McGill University. I was formerly Director of Psychology with The Rehab Group, a FSCO Designated Assessment Centre and multidisciplinary assessment centre.
