Konstantine K. Zakzanis

Ph.D., C. Psych., D.E.S.S., C-CAT(MB), CMLE

Dr. Zakzanis earned his Honours B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from York University. He is a tenured Full Professor in the Department of Psychology and the Graduate Department of Psychological Clinical Science at the University of Toronto Scarborough. As a licensed member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario, he is authorized to practice within the province in both Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology.

Dr. Zakzanis maintains active memberships in several professional organizations, including the Ontario, Canadian, and American Psychological Associations; the International Neuropsychological Society; the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology (Affiliate Member); the National Academy of Neuropsychology; and the Canadian Academy of Psychologists in Disability Assessment. He currently serves as the President of the Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators. Additionally, he holds C-CAT(MB) and CMLE(O) certification from CSME/CAPDA, having been a founding developer of the certification and recertification programs, as well as the credentialing examination committees, which he continues to oversee as Program Director. Furthermore, Dr. Zakzanis has fulfilled all requirements for the Program of Insurance Medicine and Medico-Legal Expertise at the Université de Montréal, Faculty of Medicine.

Recognized as an expert in Psychology and Neuropsychology by the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO), the Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT), and the Ontario Courts, Dr. Zakzanis has been permitted to provide expert testimony within his scope of practice. His contributions to the scientific literature are extensive, with numerous peer-reviewed publications addressing psychological and neuropsychological assessment (e.g., test sensitivity, malingering, psychometric test development), a range of clinical disorders (e.g., traumatic brain injury/concussion, major depressive disorder, dementia), and various research methodologies (e.g., brain imaging, meta-analysis). He is also the author of Neuropsychological Differential Diagnosis and a contributing author to various Ontario Psychological Association clinical practice guidelines on remote assessment, and most recently, traumatic brain injury.

Dr. Zakzanis has delivered numerous invited addresses on Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology at both national and international conferences. His research has been supported by federal and provincial funding agencies, and he has been recognized with multiple awards for research, teaching, and service. As an academic supervisor, he has mentored numerous undergraduate and graduate students in their scholarly and professional development.

In addition to his research and teaching contributions, Dr. Zakzanis plays a critical role in academic publishing. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for Psychological Injury and the Law and previously held the same position for the American Psychological Association’s Neuropsychology. He is also a Consulting Editor for The Clinical Neuropsychologist and The Journal of Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology, and has served as an editorial referee for numerous other peer-reviewed journals.
