David Kurzman

Dr. David Kurzman is a registered Clinical Psychologist with a practice in Clinical Neuropsychology. He is licensed to practice in Ontario (License Number 3464), New Brunswick (License Number 477), Newfoundland (License Number 505), and Nova Scotia (R1085). He is also listed with the Canadian Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology (CRHSPP; Certificate Number 5866). Dr. Kurzman completed his MSc at the University of Victoria and his PhD at Concordia University. He has completed the Microprogram in Insurance Medicine and Medicolegal Expertise for Canadian Health Professionals through the University of Montreal. Dr. Kurzman has completed all of the coursework requirements towards a post-doctoral Master’s Degree in Psychopharmacology through Fairleigh Dickinson University. Dr. Kurzman has been the president of the Canadian Academy of Psychologists in Disability Assessment (CAPDA; Membership Number 0135) for several years and has been an active Board Member for many years. He is a full member of the Association for Scientific Advancement in Psychological Injury (ASAPIL; Membership Number 0053). He is an associate member of the Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators (CSME; Membership Number 0323). He is a current member of counsel for the College of Psychologists of Ontario and has been on the College of Psychologists Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee (2014 – 2015) which involved investigating complaints and reports against members of the College, and deciding what should be done to address any evident problems. Dr. Kurzman has held positions at the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care, Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences Centre, and St. John's Rehabilitation Hospital prior to entering into private practice. He has been performing independent assessments and medical legal assessments since April 2000. He is also an experienced CAT assessor (Assessments for the Determination of Catastrophic Impairment) and is among the first wave of practitioners to receive the C-CAT (Mental/Behavioral) certification through the joint CSME/CAPDA Catastrophic Training Certification Program. Dr. Kurzman has also completed the joint CSME/CAPDA Certification in Medicolegal Expertise (CMLE) and has been a CCAT and CMLE Faculty Member who has helped to develop and manage the program. Dr. Kurzman has also been qualified to testify as an expert witness by the Superior Court of Ontario and by the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO).
